My Super Deep Post about Robin Williams

There is A LOT of opinions flying all over the Internet and Facebook about Robin William's death. Like a hot mess, I am staying out of all of it.

We need to be careful about what we say about depression and suicide; this is a time we need to stick very closely to the Church's teachings: Love one another and do not judge one another. This is not the time to be figuring out what "went wrong" in Mr.William's life or where he is at now. It simply is not our place. What we should be doing though, is mourning Robin Williams and thinking of the gift that he was to us through the entertainment world.

Which is what my super-deep-post is about.

I will miss his quit wit.

I will miss his crazy randomness (anyone else get confused in his ramblings and yet still are laughing??)

I will miss seeing him in movies.

I will miss thinking of him as "Mork" even though I wasn't allowed to watch that show when I was a kid. ("Nanoo-Nanoo.")

I will miss him even more when I do watch his movies again. Can't forget Mrs.Doubtfire and Hook! Two of my favorites!

I will miss his smile.

He was a good man. He had his demons--or so they say--but we all do. We all have weaknesses to face.

Next time we see a funny person, someone who is always smiling, someone who is always joking, we need to remember that sometimes on the inside, there's something more real, something that is covered up.

And we should just remember to pray for one another; to give each other some space, some understanding, even when they're being impossible to understand.

We need to let each other be sad once in a while.

It's ok not to have the perfect advice because sometimes the perfect advice may not be the perfect time. More likely than not, they already know the answer.

We just need to listen.

Love one another.

Do not judge.

That's all we're called to do. No more and no less.

Rest in peace, Robin Williams. I hope you found the peace you were looking for.

  1. Excellent post. You're so smart. My current pastor said a lot of the same things when a church member killed himself.
